Proudest Moments
-
Serving as a mentor and teacher for pre-medical students, medical students, and residents! I love seeing them grow and succeed!
-
Having the opportunity to serve my community! Graduating from JABSOM in 2013, training at UHIMRP, serving as the first chief resident for KPHI IMRP, then practicing as a Primary Care Physician at Hawaii Permanente Medical Group (KP) and now serving as KPHI IMRP’s Program Director.
-
Striving to practice a growth mindset in life to improve myself and my community, as I navigate my roles as a physician, teacher, lifelong learner, wife, mother, daughter, and friend.
Humanism in medicine is a patient-centered approach emphasizing the partnership between patient and physician. I treat patients as whole persons by understanding their unique values and goals in life and engaging them in shared decision-making about their healthcare so they can live their best life. I strive to create a caring and compassionate environment, promote patient autonomy, and support informed choices that align with my patients' personal values and beliefs. Active listening is the most crucial skill, which demonstrates to your patients that you have comprehended their narrative and value their experience.

3. Feeling that my family is proud of me
"Being a physician Humanist is to understand, internalize and express through our actions that the joys and suffering experienced in our human condition is universal to all human beings in every station and position in life."
